What We Believe
The things we believe about God and the Bible:
1. We believe that God is the Supreme Being of the universe. He made the world in 6 days and because He is the Creator, He is worthy to be worshipped. Since He is God and we are not, His plan and ways supersede our plan and ways.
2. We believe that Jesus is also God. God sent His Son into the world for 2 reasons: to provide a sacrifice for sin and to model the way that we are suppose to live. So our response to Jesus' life is two-fold: trusting Him as personal Savior and trying to live like He lived.
3. We believe that the Holy Spirit is also God. God sent Him into the world to assist in the 2 responses to Jesus' life as mentioned above in #2. The Holy Spirit brings us to the point where we realize our need for a Savior. He also helps us to live like Jesus lived. He does this by bringing to our minds Scripture passages to direct us in the appropriate way. He also stings our consciences when we fall away from God.
4. We believe that mankind originally had a great relationship with God. Because Adam wanted to do things his way instead of God's, Adam sinned and fell out of that great relationship with God. Each one of us does the exact same thing; we follow the first man's practice very well. Because that relationship was broken, eternal fellowship was also broken. After death, eternal life with God in heaven is impossible, with this broken eternal relationship. Since we are not going to heaven at death, the only other alternative is eternal separation from God in Hell. But wait, there is hope.
5. We believe that God provided a way to repair that broken relationship with Him. God sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross to pay the tremendous price that was necessary to secure our eternal relationship with Himself. God provided a way to repair the relationship. Now we must trust in what Jesus did to secure our relationship. So, "what do I have to do in order to go to heaven?" God says that by trusting in His plan that He accomplished through Jesus' death on the cross, you will go to His heaven. You cannot say, "I'm a good person so God will let me into heaven," or "I'm not that bad, surely God will let me into heaven." These statements focus on what we've done instead of what Jesus has already done.
6. We believe that the church is all those who have placed their faith in what Jesus has done to secure our eternal life. We meet together on Sundays to celebrate our faith and in homes other times throughout the week to study the Bible and develop relationships. The people at Christian Tabernacle are here to love people into a relationship with Jesus, just like God does, "God so loved the world that He gave His only unique Son."
